Summer is fully underway. Though mine had a slow start...things are finally starting to look up. Not only am I feeling better (finally), but there are quite a few special events to look forward to. They kind of popped up unexpectedly! Since I am doing what I can to embrace what is left of the season, I thought today's post should be about the essentials. Be sure to throw these summertime musts in your makeup bag.
A BB Cream with an SPF. Nothing is more important than taking good care of your skin. Especially once the sun starts beaming down! Lathering on sunscreen is important – but so is choosing face products with a built-in SPF. Look for a BB Cream (perfectly lightweight for summer) with an SPF of at least 15. That way, your skin will be protected from the sun…and you can still enjoy a little coverage.
Bronzer With and Without Shimmer. What says summer more than gorgeous bronzy skin? It doesn’t matter if you have fair, medium, or dark skin. A bit of bronzer can instantly change up your look. Especially if you are opting to do a bit of light contouring. Keep a matte and shimmery bronzer in your makeup collection this season. The matte bronzer can be used to contour around your face, giving it a little more definition. The shimmery bronzer on the other hand will look great on the cheeks.
Waterproof Mascara and Eyeliner. Hitting the water park? Want to run through a sprinkler? Worried about sweating off your makeup? Then waterproof products are an absolute must for you this season. There is nothing worse than melting or transferring makeup. Use a waterproof mascara (or layer a waterproof mascara over top of your favourite brand). Be sure to use waterproof eyeliner as well. This will make it smudge proof – even in extreme heat.
Oil Blotting Papers. Oil happens. Even dry skinned makeup lovers have to deal with oily patches on the skin during the warm summer months. The solution is simple. Throw a pack of oil blotting papers (or rice paper) into your purse. They are quick and easy to use, affordable, and will zap up any oil in an instant. This is better than layering on powder every few hours. Blotting up the oil as opposed to covering it up will help you avoid looking cakey and unnatural.
There is so much to see, do, and experience this month. When it comes to makeup, make sure you are prepared for all the realities of the warm weather. Having these must haves ready will help you stay gorgeous and glowing all day long!
